NEW TIMELINES
Utah Tech University has switched from a year-based timeline for academic scholarships to a credit-based timeline. After years of research, we have switched requirements to keep the scholarships from year to year to a minimum of 12 credits per semester, instead of the traditional 15. As a result, if we kept the timeline at 2 years, most students would not graduate before they ran out of scholarships.
We have switched to a credit-based system to allow more flexibility in each student’s choice of enrollment and timeline. Each transfer who receives a transfer scholarship (instead of those transfer students with less than 24 credits who receive a freshman scholarship) will have that scholarship, provided they meet the yearly requirements outlined in their award letters, until they get to 150 overall attempted credits. However, this will include ALL attempted credits, including but not limited to: All Transfer attempted credits, Concurrent Enrollment, Dual Enrollment, AP Classes posted to transcripts, FLATS Tests, Vertical Credits, IB credits, etc. This will also include any classes you attempt here, including summer courses (though there is no scholarship during that semester), along with any F’s, Withdrawals, Audits, etc.
If you are coming in with 120 or more credits you will not be awarded a transfer scholarship.
If you have more questions about this, contact the Scholarship Office.
