Utah Tech University is fortunate to have additional scholarship programs available to students. Each scholarship requires a separate application. Please read and follow the instructions, and submit transcripts or other documents by the designated deadline.

Utah Tech Affiliated & Community Scholarship Calendar

Each scholarship will be tagged with specific eligibility requirements, semester availability, affiliations, and due dates.

  • UT Affiliated = Scholarship can stack with other scholarships up to Base Undergraduate Resident Tuition.
  • Community = Scholarship can exceed Base Undergraduate Resident Tuition and help towards any other university expense.
  • Major = some scholarships are specific to major(s)
  • Needs Based = These are for students who show “financial need”. Usually this is through the FAFSA and Pell eligibility. However, it is not limited to Pell eligible students.
  • Semester Availability = Fall Semester is awarded for the full year (Fall/Spring Split); Spring Sem Only is for those that are open for spring applications; Summer is limited.

All students are invited to apply for scholarships in talent-based programs. Utah Tech University has an excellent Fine Arts Department, offering outstanding instruction in the performing arts. Most applicants are required to interview and/or attend tryouts in order to receive a talent scholarship. The Talent Scholarship Application form must be filled out online.

  • Requires the submission of a portfolio containing 6 to 8 samples of current artwork. The portfolio may be submitted as email attachments to meaghan.gates@utahtech.edu. Additionally, 2 letters of recommendation and a letter from the student giving a brief description of the student’s goals as they relate to art or art experience must also be submitted.

  • This scholarship is for those who have the most need. Applicants must have a completed FAFSA for next year, except DACA/Undocumented/Dreamer students. Must be a degree seeking student, attending 6 credits or more, with a 2.0 GPA or higher, and must meet a high need area. If awarded, recipients must complete at least 20 hours of documentable service to UT or the Washington County Community.

  • This scholarship is funded by a prior Dixie State University President and First Lady. Applicants must have a 3.5+ overall GPA to apply. Transfer students receive preference but it is not required.

  • Applicants must be custodial single parents attending Utah Tech at least 6 credits per semester in an eligible program. Applicants must show financial need and single parent status through a completed FAFSA. Current students must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA, incoming freshmen will be evaluated on an Admissions Index.

2/15 – SILENT LEADER SCHOLARSHIP – SPRING SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • The Silent Leader Scholarship is an opportunity that recognizes and supports individuals who possess exceptional leadership qualities and potential. We are looking for students who are leading, but typically in an unofficial way. This is not a scholarship for those on campus who already have an official position in student leadership but rather for students that are leading change in an unofficial capacity. This scholarship aims to foster and develop the skills necessary to inspire and guide others towards positive change and success. It provides recipients with financial assistance, mentorship, and various resources to enhance their leadership abilities and make a lasting impact in their chosen fields. A leadership scholarship not only acknowledges the achievements and potential of its recipients but also encourages them to further refine their leadership skills, promote collaboration, and cultivate a strong sense of social responsibility. By investing in the development of emerging leaders, this scholarship cultivates a brighter future by empowering individuals to lead with integrity, vision, and a commitment to creating positive transformations in their communities and beyond.

3/1 – ST GEORGE LADY LIONS – FALL SEMESTER – COMMUNITY

  • Awards a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior from each of the Local High Schools, as well as one to one current UT student. Scholarships are awarded based upon “financial need” rather than on grades or academic performance. Winners are required to attend the Scholarship Tea in April. 3/1 – AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN (AAUW) SCHOLARSHIPANY SEMESTER – COMMUNITY – NEW ELIGIBILITY

  • The American Association of University Women St. George Branch advances students from Southern Utah through advocacy and education. We award scholarships averaging $1,000 each to eligible Southern Utah area students each year. Our Scholarship Committee establishes the criteria for scholarships. It determines the awardees based on students who demonstrate a financial need and have the potential for educational success by completing their degrees. Funding sources include the annual gala event, other Branch-sponsored fundraisers, and private donations. Scholarship is for students who are attending, or plan to attend, Utah Tech University, Dixie Tech or Mohave Community College to continue their educational goals. Check out their website for more information. This scholarship is now open to ALL students from the Southern Utah area, regardless of sex or gender.

3/15 – BOARD OF TRUSTEES SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • Minimum or 30 credits, 3.25 GPA and full time status to apply. Applicants must have some service hours prior to applying. Recipients are required to attend a Board of Trustees meeting.

3/15 – WASHINGTON COUNTY CHILDREN’S JUSTICE CENTER PATRICIA SHEFFIELD SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – COMMUNITY

  • Awards $1,000 for resident student currently attending Utah Tech with preference given to those who are pursuing degrees in Social Service, Child Care, Child Advocacy, Law Enforcement, or similar areas that relate to the Children’s Justice Center’s mission. Applicants must have completed at least 24 credits with at least a 2.75 GPA.

3/15 – REBELS FOREVER SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • Awarded each year to Current Utah Tech University students whose parent, grandparent or great-grandparent graduated from Dixie/Utah Tech. Applicants must be at least a sophomore with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above, and be active in a club, organization or extracurricular activities at Utah Tech.

3/15 – JOE & DIXIE BOWLER SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • Applicants for this scholarship must be full-time students in their second, third or fourth year of attendance at Utah Tech, with 24 credit hours completed and a minimum 2.8 GPA. Must have graduated from Virgin Valley High School in Mesquite, Nevada.

3/15 – UTAH TECH STUDENT ASSOCIATION (UTSA) – FALL SEMESTER – CAN EXCEED BASE TUITION

  • UTSA provides scholarships to students who want to join the student government team with 39 stipend positions over 6 branches. The mission of UTSA is to be an advocate for all current students and aims to foster school spirit and create unity. Application opens usually during spring break is only open for 2-3 weeks before interviews start.

3/15 – SUN NEWS JOURNALISM – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • These scholarships are awarded to students who work on the Sun News staff as editors, writers, reporters, designers and photographers, creating content for print, broadcast and online media. Scholarship amounts vary by position. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and maintain a 12-credit course load each semester. These scholarships require up to 18 hours of work a week outside of class and require registering for courses. 3/16 – EXTENDED TO APRIL 1st – DIXIE LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • The Dixie Legacy & A Delmont and Karol Truman Scholarships are for students who are a child, spouse, sibling, grandchild, great-grandchild, niece or nephew of a Dixie Alum. These awards are one-year scholarships based on academic merit, financial need, and legacy status.

3/31 – SOUTHERN UTAH HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION (SUHBA) – FALL SEMESTER – COMMUNITY

  • Each year, SUHBA will award scholarships to students pursuing post high school education. Preference for scholarships will be given to students pursuing construction-related education and students affiliated with SUHBA. The scholarship may be used to fund almost any post-secondary education, i.e., college or vocational, public or private. Recipients may be awarded up to $1,000 per academic year. Monies will be paid directly to the school of choice.

3/31 – INSPIRE SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – COMMUNITY

  • The INSPIRE Scholarship is designed to support STEM majors that are Pell eligible. This scholarship will cover unmet financial need for students (on average $5000/year) for two full years (total average award of $10,000). Participants will need attend weekly study hall, meet regularly with an assigned mentor, and participate in multi-semester research and prototyping course series called the Innovative Solutions Course series. This course series will consist of three 1-credit lab-based courses. This courses series will immerse students in a multidisciplinary research project, training them for future careers that increasingly require interdisciplinary collaboration. Within the course, students will form interdisciplinary teams of different STEM disciplines, and be trained in research methods, modern prototyping techniques, and technology startup fundamentals. Students will solve modern real-world interdisciplinary challenges within the courses, and students can advance their solutions through either scholarly research or entrepreneurship at the completion of the program. These courses will run the first three semesters of the program, and meet on Friday’s from 1:00 – 4:00 PM. To be eligible, you must have and maintain a 3.0 GPA, be Pell eligible, and have at least two years of school before graduation.

  • Applicants must be fully admitted to Utah Tech to be considered for this scholarship. Priority will be given to students with Advanced Standing status (3000 level classes or above). Application opens February 1st and closes March 31st. NO LATE APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED.

4/1 – GOLDEN GENERATION/ALUMNI/CLASS OF ’41 SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • These awards are one-year scholarships based on academic merit and/or financial need.

  • This scholarship is funded by various endowments from across the nation, all of which have different preferences. Students must have at least a 3.0 and be working towards their first Bachelors Degree.

4/1 – INSTITUTE FOR CONTINUED LEARNING (ICL) SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • Offers a total of four, $1000 scholarships to deserving students. Applicants must have attended at least one semester at Utah Tech prior to applying. Minimum 3.0 GPA and “Full-Time” status. Recipients are required to complete a progress report at the end of the semester.

4/1 – DIXIE LADIES OF ELKS SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – COMMUNITY

  • Applicants for this scholarship must be full-time students in their second, third or fourth year of attendance at UT ( 24 credit hours completed). Scholarship is for graduates of a high school in Washington County or Kane County in Utah or Fredonia, Arizona to attend vocational schools in Washington County or UT.

4/1 – ST GEORGE ELKS SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – COMMUNITY

  • Offers multiple scholarships to students from the Washington County area.

4/15 – BAMBERGER NURSING SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – COMMUNITY

  • Scholarships are awarded to full-time, undergraduate nursing students with financial need. Applicants must be accepted into the Nursing Program and have a completed FAFSA application to be considered. Recipients will be selected by the Nursing Department.

4/15 – STUDENT TUITION FUND INC SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – COMMUNITY

  • Volunteer service within the community and/or institution is in fact VERY important! It not only high lights an individual as an asset to society, but speaks to the kind of person they really are. Volunteer service doesn’t have to be “big” to have a positive impact. Often times, seeming small and simple acts of service can greatly impact communities and schools. Besides, everyone knows meaningful volunteer services looks GREAT on any resume! Student Tuition Fund Inc. honors qualified students who are currently providing volunteer service within their respective communities and/or schools through tuition scholarships. In addition to the tuition award, if chose, students will receive formal recognition from their respective city entity and University/institution, thanking them for what they do!

4/15 – WILLY THE PLUMBER SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • The Willy the Plumber Scholarship is available to enable the children of inmates in the state’s correctional facilities to pursue a higher education. Intended recipients are graduates of any high school in the State of Utah who will be attending Utah Tech whose parent or individual acting in the role, are currently incarcerated in the Utah State Prison system, or have a history of chronic incarceration and are likely to return to prison while the student is pursuing post-secondary education. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate a GPA of 3.0 but applicants must have at least a 2.5 GPA.

4/15 – MICHAEL SCOTT CANNON SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • Utah Tech University and the family of Michael Scott Cannon offer one scholarship each year to a Washington County Resident with a GPA between 2.0 and 3.75 who is attending UT as a full-time student. Qualifications are as follows; students who have overcome a life challenge, such as substance abuse either personally or growing up with a parent with substance abuse. For additional requirements please refer to the application.

4/15 – JUDITH & GENE SCHNEITER – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • The Schneiter scholarship is for students interested in being considered for a scholarship of up to $1000 per year for full-time Juniors and Seniors in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The scholarship recipient(s) will serve as College of Humanities and Social Sciences Representatives who will be asked to attend scholarship luncheons and present at the Students With Grit luncheon. 4/15 – STATE BANK OF SOUTHERN UTAH SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – COMMUNITY

  • Offers yearly scholarships to high school graduates of local high schools: Dixie, Snow Canyon, Pineview, Millcreek, Desert Hills, Hurricane, and Utah Arts Academy. Scholarship awards are administered though the Washington County School District Foundation. Applications should be sent to either the Foundation, or to one of the State Bank full services branches.

4/30 – WASHINGTON CITY LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • The Washington City Lions Club Scholarship will award two $500 scholarships. Student must be a Washington City resident and have a minimum 3.2 high school GPA. To apply for the scholarship, applicants must submit the application with a 250 word essay on Community Service.

MAY

5/1 – JAY’S LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – COMMUNITY

  • Jay’s Legacy is proud to offer this scholarship to full time Utah Tech University attendees. Scholarship will be awarded to recipient(s) of up to $9000 for tuition! This scholarship is disbursed directly to the University to cover tuition costs. You must have a 3.2 GPA to apply for this scholarship. For more information visit: https://jayslegacy.org

  • National Advisory Council has established a scholarship for veterans who do not qualify for VA or Military Benefits. To apply, you must be a student in good standing with UT and you must submit your DD-214 and an essay stating your plans and why you deserve the scholarship to Karl Watters, Veterans Coordinator, via email or directly to his office in the Holland Building.

5/1 – AT&T PUBLIC SAFETY HERO SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • This is a scholarship for any student accepted into the EMS (Emergency Medical Services) Program. Applicants must be accepted into the program, and must have “Financial Need” as determined by FAFSA, and be an under-represented student.

5/1 – ORTON TEACHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • Established to honor a long time Washington County educator and his wife, the Rulon D Orton and LaPrele Gubler Orton Education Scholarship awards $1000 scholarships to elementary education majors. Candidates must be UT students in good standing with a 3.0 GPA and accepted into the Elementary Education Program prior to making application. Students must have “Financial Need” as determined by FAFSA. A short essay must be submitted with your application, applications submitted without an essay will not be considered. Preference is given to Non-Traditional students, and those seeking an Elementary Education – Arts endorsement. Applicants will be considered for additional awards each year they meet the qualifications.

5/1 – ORTON EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONAL SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • Established to honor a long time Washington County educator and his wife, the Rulon D Orton and LaPrele Gubler Orton Education Scholarship awards scholarships to working paraprofessionals, majoring in elementary education. Candidates must be UT students in good standing with a 3.0 GPA and accepted into the Elementary Education PATHWAY Program prior to applying.   • UT Staff Association offers two $500 scholarships each semester to a current part-time staff employee who is pursuing higher education here at Utah Tech. The primary purpose of the Utah Tech University Association is to foster a harmonious and cooperative relationship between administration, faculty, staff members, and students. We invite all qualified employees to apply for this opportunity.

  • Applicants must be fully admitted to Utah Tech University to be considered for this scholarship. Student must be a declared major within the College of Science, Engineering, & Technology. NO LATE APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED.

5/6 – CALL TO ACTION SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – COMMUNITY

  • The Call to Action Scholarship Program offers eligible students unparalleled assistance so they can achieve their academic goals. The need-based scholarship funds the full cost of attendance for up to 4 years ($25,000 max annually) at non-profit, accredited public universities. Students must be a graduating high school senior, Utah Resident, have a 3.0+ high school GPA, completed FAFSA annually, have a goal of graduating with a Bachelors degree within 4 years or an Associates degree within 2 years. 5/10 – T.H. BELL SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – STATE OF UTAH SCHOLARSHIP

  • All applicants must be classified as a “Resident” of Utah. Any student planning on teaching at a public institution within the state of Utah is welcome to apply, but preference is given to first generation education majors, and students admitted to the Education Department. This scholarship can only be awarded to students who declare intent to complete the prescribed course of instruction required for a teaching certificate.

5/15 – FIRE & ICE SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • Fire & Ice Scholarship is a needs based scholarship for students who have at least a 3.0 GPA with at least 24 credits in college. Applicants must be able to show need of some kind through the application. Recipients may be asked to attend a luncheon or fundraising events for the Fire & Ice fundraising efforts.

5/30 – GORDON RUSSELL SCHOLARSHIP IN HONOR OF SHEA’TON RUSSELL – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • One to two scholarships each year to a Utah Resident with a GPA between 2.0 and 3.75 who is attending UT as a full-time student. First consideration to students who have overcome a life challenge, is service oriented, and demonstrates financial need. Student cannot be receiving a current academic scholarship. 5/31 – SOUTHERN UTAH TRUCKING ASSOCIATION (SUTA) SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – COMMUNITY

  • This scholarship is sponsored through the generosity of the Southern Utah Trucking Association (SUTA) members.  The scholarship is the result of the desire from the trucking industry to give back to the community by helping high school and college students further their education. Qualifying students may receive a scholarship ranging from $100 to $1,500 to assist them with tuition, fees and other program costs. Preference will be given, but is not limited to, students who are working toward an education in truck industry related fields such as: Drivers, Mechanics, Safety/Logistics, Human Resources, Marketing/Sales, Web Design, Members or relatives of members of the Utah Trucking Association.

5/31 – TRULACAMPUS COACHFALL SEMESTER – COMMUNITY

  • Trula Foundation awards 30 scholarships each semester (fall and spring) in the amount of $2000 for students with a 3.0 GPA and who are pursuing an applicable degree. While on scholarship, each campus coach will have their own coach to help them deepen their understanding of coaching from the student’s perspective, provide opportunity for personal growth, and develop greater coaching skills. Coaches will engage in coaching student classes, groups, clubs, or one-on-one with students through text, phone call, virtually, or in-person. 6/1 – SAMUELA TUPOLA LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • The Samuela Tupola Leadership Scholarship embodies a commitment to fostering leadership qualities grounded in social justice, belonging, access, and involvement. It is open to all students, but particularly seeks individuals who aspire to lead in all spaces and places, championing belonging and visibility. Eligible students are selected on the basis of  life challenges, scholastic effort, and involvement in community activities that promote belonging with financial need considered in the final selection process.

6/1 – ATOMS IN ACTION CHEMISTRY SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • The Chemistry and Biochemistry Scholarship is designed to recognize and support outstanding students who have demonstrated exceptional aptitude and dedication in the fields of chemistry and biochemistry.   • Bloomington Dental and Chris A Neilson DDS have been involved in the St George community since 1997. Giving back is what makes a difference in many lives and we want to help those around us. This year we will be giving a scholarship to one student who is pursuing a career in the healthcare field or dentistry with a $1,000 scholarship to Utah Tech University. Must be accepted to Utah Tech as a Full Time student with a declared major in the field of healthcare or dentistry.

  • The College of Health Sciences Scholarship is for any student accepted into a closed application program, an upper division health sciences declared major, or a College of Health Sciences graduate student. Students must have a 3.0+ Overall & Program GPA and preference is given to students with a completed FAFSA.

7/1 – HIGH NEED OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • This scholarship is for those who have the most need. Applicants must have a completed FAFSA for next year, except DACA/Undocumented/Dreamer students. Must be a degree seeking student, attending 6 credits or more, with a 2.0 GPA or higher, and must meet a high need area. If awarded, recipients must complete at least 20 hours of documentable service to UT or the Washington County Community.

  • Applicants must be custodial single parents attending Utah Tech at least 6 credits per semester in an eligible program. Applicants must show financial need and single parent status through a completed FAFSA. Current students must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA, incoming freshmen will be evaluated on an Admissions Index.

7/15 – WASHINGTON COUNTY REPUBLICAN WOMEN “EMBRACING OUR HEROES” SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • Sponsors scholarships for the National Guard, Reservists, or Veterans (or spouses of veterans), with priority given to members of the 222nd. Student must hold a 3.0 GPA and demonstrate “financial need”.

  • These scholarships are awarded to students who will work in local broadcast/live stream functions for the Community Education Channel, Utah Tech’s on-campus TV Station. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and maintain a 12-credit course load each semester. These positions require 10-20 hours of work per week outside of class. Freshmen through seniors are welcome to apply. Experience in camera operation, video editing and other aspects of TV/video production is preferred but not required. Scholarship amounts vary by position/workload.

  • These scholarships are awarded to students who work at KXDS 91.3, the Utah Tech University radio station. Scholarship amounts vary by position. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and maintain a 12-credit course load each semester. These scholarships require up to 18 hours of work a week outside of class and require registering for courses. Freshmen through seniors are welcome to apply.

  • This scholarship is for any Junior, Senior or Single Parent (of any class level) who is a declared major in Biology, Chemistry or Biochemistry. Must have a 2.0+ overall GPA.

9/15 – SILENT LEADER SCHOLARSHIP – FALL SEMESTER – UT AFFILIATED

  • The Silent Leader Scholarship is an opportunity that recognizes and supports individuals who possess exceptional leadership qualities and potential. We are looking for students who are leading, but typically in an unofficial way. This is not a scholarship for those on campus who already have an official position in student leadership but rather for students that are leading change in an unofficial capacity. This scholarship aims to foster and develop the skills necessary to inspire and guide others towards positive change and success. It provides recipients with financial assistance, mentorship, and various resources to enhance their leadership abilities and make a lasting impact in their chosen fields. 10/1 – DIXIE LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP – SPRING SEM ONLY – UT AFFILIATED

  • The Dixie Legacy & A Delmont and Karol Truman Scholarships are for students who are a child, spouse, sibling, grandchild, great-grandchild, niece or nephew of a Dixie Alum. These awards are one-year scholarships based on academic merit, financial need, and legacy status. This scholarship, when used in conjunction with any other scholarship offered through Utah Tech cannot exceed cost of Tuition and Fees.

10/15 – TRULACAMPUS COACH – SPRING SEM ONLY – COMMUNITY

  • Trula Foundation awards 30 scholarships each semester (fall and spring) in the amount of $2000 for students with a 3.0 GPA and who are pursuing a degree in Communications, Applied Sociology, Psychology, Population or Public Health, Criminal Justice, or other applicable degree. While on scholarship, each campus coach will have their own coach to help them deepen their understanding of coaching from the student’s perspective, provide opportunity for personal growth, and develop greater coaching skills. Coaches will engage in coaching student classes, groups, clubs, or one-on-one with students through text, phone call, virtually, or in-person.   • UT Staff Association offers two $500 scholarships each semester to a current part-time staff employee who is pursuing higher education here at Utah Tech. The primary purpose of the Utah Tech University Association is to foster a harmonious and cooperative relationship between administration, faculty, staff members, and students.   • Improving student success by providing financial assistance to Utah Tech University students participating in high impact practices. These high impact practices could entail: study abroad, career tours, undergraduate research, internships, experiential learning, alternative fall and spring breaks, presenting at conferences, etc. Students who participate in these types of activities can apply for a scholarship that will cover up to $500. Application will open during fall semester.

  • This scholarship is for Junior or Senior declared Mathematics majors or Math and Computational Mathematics Majors with 3.0+ GPAs or higher. Applicants must have successfully completed MATH 2210, Multivariable Calculus to qualify.
