Requirements

  • Be fully admitted to UT by the deadline
  • Be a US Citizen or have Permanent Resident Status
  • Be enrolled in an eligible program. Online Only Programs are ineligible for non-resident scholarships. Your award may be cancelled or changed as a result.
  • Be a new, first time Transfer student to Utah Tech University
  • If you are a Transfer Student that has been admitted to Utah Tech before, you will need to apply for the Second Chance Transfer Scholarship here.
  • Have an intent to graduate from Utah Tech University
  • Complete a minimum of 24 post-high school credits at time of the scholarship deadline
  • Students with less than 24 credits: scholarship decisions will be awarded based upon their high school GPA.
  • Students with a Bachelors’ degree or excess of 150 credit hours are not eligible for scholarships.

NON-RESIDENT PRESIDENTIAL is the premier scholarship for outstanding academic & degree oriented transfer students, coming from an accredited college or university. Pays Full Base Tuition: 2-years or completion of a Bachelors’ degree (not to exceed 4 semesters). (Pays: $16,188 per year based on 2021-22 tuition) Requires 15 credit hours per semester, 3.5 GPA, Cannot be used to attend all online. 3.80 and above0 base tuition
NON-RESIDENT UNIVERSITY awarded to outstanding academic & degree oriented transfer students, coming from an accredited college or university. Pays non-resident differential and ½ of instate base tuition: 2-years or completion of a Bachelors’ degree (not to exceed 4 semesters). (Pays: $13,656 per year based on 2021-22 tuition) Requires 15 credit hours per semester, 3.5 GPA, Cannot be used to attend all online. 3.50 to 3.79 ½ of the Current Resident Tuition
NON-RESIDENT CHANCELLORS awarded to academically eligible degree oriented transfer students, coming from an accredited college or university. Pays non-resident differential: 2-years or completion of a Bachelors’ degree (not to exceed 4 semesters) (Pays: $11,124 per year based on 2021-22 tuition) Requires 15 credit hours per semester, 3.2 GPA, Cannot be used to attend all online. 3.2 to 3.49Current Resident Tuition
NON-RESIDENT FOUNDERS awarded to academically eligible degree oriented transfer students, coming from an accredited college or university. Pays all but 125% of Base Resident Tuition: 2-years or completion of a Bachelors’ degree (not to exceed 4 semesters) (Pays: $9,858 per year based on 2021-22 tuition) Requires 15 credit hours per semester, 3.2 GPA, Cannot be used to attend all online. 3.0 to 3.19125% of Current Resident Tuition
New Transfer students who do not qualify for one of the above will be automatically considered for the WUE, Half Merit or Good Neighbor Programs. If you are not a new transfer student applying to Utah Tech or if you missed the deadline for the scholarships above, you will need to physically apply for those programs through the links below.
RED ROCKS WAIVER Awarded to academically eligible entering freshman students, graduating from a high school in the United States. (Pays: $8,592 per year based on 2021-22 tuition) 4 years or a Bachelors’ degree (not to exceed 8 semesters) Requires 12 credit hours per semester, 2.0 GPA, Cannot be used to attend all online. *Time on Red Rocks Waiver can be used towards gaining Utah Residency*2.75 GPA150% of Current Resident Tuition
WESTERN UNDERGRADUATE EXCHANGE (W.U.E) Awarded to academically eligible students, graduating from a high school in the United States in a participating state: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, Guam, Marshall Islands & the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. 4 years or a Bachelors’ degree (not to exceed 8 semesters) (Pays: $8,592 per year based on 2021-22 tuition) Requires 12 credit hours per semester, 2.0 GPA, Cannot be used to attend all online. *Time on WUE cannot be used towards gaining Utah Residency* 2.75 GPA150% of Current Resident Tuition
GOOD NEIGHBOR TUITION PROGRAM Awarded to academically eligible entering freshman students, graduating from a high school in Lincoln or Clark County in Nevada, or Mohave or Coconino County in Arizona. 4 years or a Bachelors’ degree (not to exceed 8 semesters) Requires 6 credit hours per semester, 2.0 GPA, Cannot be used to attend all online. *Time on Good Neighbor cannot be used towards gaining Utah Residency* 2.5 GPA150% of Current Resident Tuition
HALF MERIT Awarded to academically eligible entering freshman students, graduating from a high school in the United States in the current year. Half Non-Resident Differential: 4 years or a Bachelors’ degree (not to exceed 8 semesters) (Pays: $5,562 per year based on 2021-22 tuition) Requires 12 credit hours per semester, 2.0 GPA, Cannot be used to attend all online.2.5 GPACurrent Resident Tuition & ½ of Non-Resident Differential

Transfer Students

Students who are transferring less than 24 credits will be awarded a Freshman Academic Scholarship based on their High School GPA. For students who fall under this category, the regular 8 semester scholarship will be reduced by how many semesters you are transferring in to Utah Tech. (Ex: a student transferring 15 credits will be awarded a freshman scholarship but will only be awarded a 7 semester scholarship as they have already attended a semester elsewhere.)
